As a documentary director, I love creating event films and the opportunity it provides to tell an important story. Events may be ephemeral, but their value, meaning and influence needn’t be. Whether its private celebration, corporate event or commercial show every event has the potential to become a milestone or inspiration for change. My work as a filmmaker is to capture the essence of this and amplify it.
I usually plan each project in some detail beforehand, so we can leverage every available opportunity to create relevant and engaging material. Although there is a certain amount of serendipity with any event filming, careful planning also ensures seamless coordination on the day with my team.
Depending on the nature of the event, I often use a mixture of documentary and cinematic styling techniques. I decide on the resources I need, such as the specific cinematographers, editors or drone operators and personally direct the production from start to finish. As a documentary maker, I am also highly proactive in shaping the narrative through compelling interviews and soundbites.
In the age of virtual gatherings, I can also provide broadcast quality livestreaming solutions enabling you to share your event in real-time with a remote global audience.
